Scuba Diving Mask |
There are 2 types of scuba diving tanks a diver will buy or rent: aluminum or steel. An Aluminum Scuba Tank is less expensive and easy to maintain. The aluminum is a softer metal than the steel tanks. This can make it vulnerable to damage easier. The aluminum tank is heavier and larger out of water. These tanks are more positively buoyant in the water which will mean that you will have to compensate by using more weights. The aluminum tank does not tolerate overfilling of the tank. A steel scuba tank is more expensive, but more compact and negatively bouyant which means the diver can wear less weight. Steel tanks are still popular with many divers. They are hard and less vulnerable to damage. The disadvantage of steel tanks is that rust may occur without proper maintenance. To prevent damage to your scuba tank, use common sense when handling it. Don't drop the scuba tank. When you are transporting the tank in a car or boat, secure it. When you are putting together your scuba kit, lay the tank on the side so you don't crush the regulator or BCD. The Aluminum is typically the more popular scuba tank and the Steel Scuba Tank is mostly used by tech divers. To view scuba tanks, Click Here! | ||
