Scuba Diving Masks

The scuba diving mask is one of the first pieces of equipment to invest in. The mask will give you clear vision underwater and keep water away from nose and eyes. Prescription lenses for the mask are recommended for people who wear glasses or contacts.

To defog your mask, you will want to remove the film with dish detergeant prior to scuba diving with the mask. Prior to diving, you can use toothpaste to clean the film off of the mask. When you are diving, there are defogger solutions you can use to defog the mask or use the good old fashion spit into the lense and rinse prior to diving.

There are different styles of masks. Some of the features include wraparound masks, low profile masks, and maximum field masks. Wraparound mask has 2 additional panes along the side of the mask. These panes improve your peripheral vision while diving. Low-profile masks has a faceplate and nose pocket . This mask makes equalizing and clearing the mask easier. Maximum field mask allow for you to see a bigger area of the scuba diving area.

Choosing the right mask is a matter of preference, but here are some steps to see if the mask fits you properly.

1. Place strap in front of mask.
2. Place mask on your face while looking up.
3. Inhale through the nose. The mask should fit into place and stay that way while your shake your head without losing the suction.
