Scuba Diving Knives

There are 3 sizes of knives: large (over 5 inch blade), medium (3-4 inch blade), and small (2-3 inch blade). Large knives are not always the best. They may be awkward to hold and can sometimes puncture the BCD. Medium knives are a good size and most practical knife to dive with. You can mount the knife on BCD, arm, or leg. Small (mini) knives can attach to hoses but make sure the handle is 2-3 inch long in order to be able to grip the knife.

Serrated edges is good for sawing motion when cutting. Straight edges cut through plastic, which is good for cutting through fishing lines and kelp.

Sharp tips on the knives are used for spearfishing, prying, and digging. It is easy to break the sharp tip and sharp tip can puncture BCD or cut you. The safest tip is the blunt tip.

Stainless steel knives are not completely rustproof and needs maintenance after each dive. Titanium knives are completely rustproof and corrision resistant because they do not contain carbon. It is virtually maintenance free.
