Scuba Diving Mask |
The purpose of the scuba diving fin is to allow you to move more efficiently through the water. Fins allow you to use your legs to swim. It is a large blade that provides the resistence for pushing against the wate. Most scuba diving fins are made of neoprene and other thermoplastics. and have a heel strap in the back. There are 4 different categories of fins: Open Heel Fin, Full Foot Fin, Long Blade Free Diving Fin, and Force Fins. The open heel allows the scuba diver to have an adjustable strap at the heel and to use boots with the fin. It is larger than full foot fins because it compensates for the scuba diving equipment and exposure suits. Most scuba divers wear the open heel fin even in warmer waters since it requires padding for comfortable fit. Full Foot Fins are smaller and better for snorkelers and swimmers. It slips on the foot. Most people wear them barefooted. It is a smaller blade and used for snorkeling, but not beach scuba diving. Long Blade Free Diving Fins are longer than traditional fins and allows for short, quick bursts of speed with power. Force Fins were designed by Bob Evans, the full time fin designer. It is designed to be efficient, using the special materisals and designs. When choosing the best fin, you will want to have a good fit and comfort. Open heel fins are the best for scuba divers. You can use the open heel fin in cold as well as warm water. Make sure that the blade matches your leg strength. It your legs are weak, stiff blades will be hard to use. If your legs are strong, a stiff blade is better than a soft blade. The most common problem that is encountered when purchasing a fin is people buy a fin that is too small.
